Case Study 5: Reinstatement Repairs

This repair to a failed trench reinstatement in the wheel track was demonstrated in live traffic and foul weather conditions in Falkirk, Scotland, during November 2009 (1). The dangerous defect (2) was filled with standing water and debris and Viafix was applied into water and broken asphalt. The permanent repair (3); ‘pouring’ Viafix directly from the bucket, in freezing, wet conditions, without cutting or traffic management; took 30 seconds. Viafix was able to take traffic loads immediately (4) despite the appalling conditions. The completed repair (5) was standing intact in the road, some 22 months later in August 2012 (6).
